A role for someone who leads from the floor
You’ll spend around 95% of your time on the production floor, and we mention that up front because it genuinely shapes the role.
This isn’t a supervisor position run from an office with occasional trips out to the line. We’re looking for someone who leads where the work happens — walking the line, working alongside the team, and picking up on issues early because they’re there to see them.
It’s also a working supervisor role in the full sense of the term. You won’t just be directing the work, you’ll be doing it — covering breaks, stepping onto the line when a run needs another pair of hands, and being genuinely useful at every station. The team will look to you because you can do the job, not only because you’re the one holding the schedule.
The site is a newly built, modern food manufacturing facility in Yatala. The operation is still taking shape, so there’s real scope for the person in this role to influence how it runs rather than inherit a fixed way of doing things.
What the day looks like
You’ll lead a production team through the day’s run — setting the pace, supporting people as they work, and keeping the line moving.
Running daily manufacturing across the floor, meeting the schedule safely and on time
Working on the line yourself: covering breaks and absences, filling gaps, and lending a hand wherever the run needs it
Coaching and developing your team on the floor, in the moment
Identifying bottlenecks, downtime and material shortages early, and resolving them
Making sure materials, ingredients and packaging are up to the line before they’re needed
Maintaining standards for GMP, HACCP, food safety and site procedures
Setting the tone on safety and accountability through the way you work
And the part that happens at a desk
The floor is where you’ll spend most of your time, but this is a supervisor’s role, and a small but important part of it needs to be done well away from the line:
Rostering and labour planning — building the roster, covering leave and absences, and matching labour to the production plan
Production records and reporting — accurate and on time
It’s a modest share of the week, but it matters. A roster that isn’t sorted on Thursday becomes a floor problem on Monday, so we’re after someone who stays on top of it.
What we’re looking for
Experience supervising or leading a production team, ideally in food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar high-volume environment
A preference for being on the floor, and the presence to lead well there
Willingness to work alongside the team and do the job yourself, not just oversee it
Comfort with building a roster, reading a production report and acting on what it shows
A good working knowledge of GMP, HACCP and food safety, and the confidence to hold others to it
Clear, straightforward communication with everyone from a new packer to a customer auditor
A practical approach to problem-solving, and the judgement to know what to handle and what to escalat
Worth knowing before you apply
This role suits someone who wants to be on the floor, is happy to be on the tools alongside their team, and enjoys building something. If you’re after a predominantly office-based position, a purely supervisory role without the hands‑on work, or would prefer to step into a well‑established operation, it may not be the right fit — and that’s worth knowing either way.
What’s on offer
A brand‑new site, with contemporary equipment and systems from day one
Permanent full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:30pm — no weekend or night shift
Genuine influence over how the operation and its culture develop
Supportive leadership, and real progression opportunities as the site grows
