Southbank, Melbourne | Hybrid, 3 to 4 days in office | $130,000 to $160,000 inclusive of superannuation
A large, privately owned Australian business is appointing a Snr Tax Accountant into its group tax function. The business has scaled well beyond a single entity, and the tax agenda has grown with it.
The group operates across a number of related entities under common private ownership, with a tax function that supports compliance, reporting and structuring across the wider group. This is not a single client engagement. It is one team, sitting across a genuinely complex private structure, with the mandate to keep building on it.
Tax reports into the Head of Tax, and this role sits close to that mandate from day one.
The Role
- Supports group income tax compliance and reporting across a multi entity structure
- Assists with tax effect accounting and provisioning as part of the reporting cycle
- Works closely with the Head of Tax on group structuring matters as they arise
- Prepares and reviews tax positions ahead of lodgement, with exposure to the full compliance calendar
- Builds technical depth across a genuinely complex private group, not a single client engagement
- Partners with finance and external advisors on technical positions as needed
- Contributes to process improvement across the tax function as it continues to grow
- Gets early exposure to the kind of group structuring work that would usually sit several years further into a career
Background Required
- Three to six years of tax experience gained in advisory, at either Big 4 or mid tier level
- Solid technical grounding in corporate income tax compliance and reporting
- Exposure to group or consolidated entity structures is highly regarded
- Comfortable moving from a client based advisory environment into an in house group function
- Able to work independently on technical positions while knowing when to raise something with the Head of Tax
What's on Offer
- Salary range $130,000 to $160,000 inclusive of super, calibrated to technical depth and experience rather than years of service alone. Hybrid working, three to four days in the Southbank office.
- Direct exposure to the Head of Tax and a group tax function with genuine scope to grow, in a business built for the long term rather than a quarterly cycle. For someone ready to move from advisory into their first in house seat, this is a step into real ownership, not a lateral move into a quieter version of the same job.
