Location: Moorabbin Airport, in Melbourne’s South-East
Position: Full Time, Permanent
Help shape safer aviation operations. Microflite Group is looking for a proactive Aviation Safety & Quality Officer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on opportunity to support safety and quality across a diverse aviation group spanning rotary-wing, fixed-wing and aerodrome operations.
Reporting to the Safety & Quality Assurance Manager and working closely with the Director of Safety, Quality and Compliance, you will work directly with pilots, engineers, operational teams and leaders on investigations, audits, risk assessments, fatigue data and practical improvements.
About Microflite Group
Microflite Group brings together Microflite Aviation, Airlines of Tasmania and Cambridge Airport. Our vision is to set the benchmark for excellence in aviation, supported by a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, people and continuous improvement.
Professionalism, safety, and people sit at the core of everything we do, and we are proud of the diversity of our operations, believing we are stronger because of our differences, not despite them. Working at Microflite Group means being part of an organisation that values expertise, encourages accountability, and recognises the importance of every role in delivering safe, reliable outcomes.
What you’ll do:
- Support the administration and continuous improvement of our Safety Management System, Integrated Management System and Fatigue Risk Management System.
- Coordinate and contribute to safety investigations, hazard assessments and risk assessments.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance monitoring, and support regulatory inspections.
- Track corrective and preventive actions and work with action owners to achieve timely, effective closure.
- Assist in maintaining policies, procedures, manuals and other controlled documentation.
- Analyse safety and fatigue related data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare reports, meeting documentation and governance records for operational and executive forums.
- Partner with operational, engineering and leadership teams to strengthen safety culture and deliver practical improvement initiatives.
Grow with us
Your development is part of the role. We invest strongly in personal and professional growth through structured onboarding, on-the-job coaching and role-relevant training. You will be supported to build capability in areas such as auditing, investigations, risk management and aviation compliance and safety data analysis.
You will not be expected to know every system from day one. We are looking for strong foundations, curiosity and a genuine willingness to learn. As the organisation continues to grow, you will have opportunities to broaden your experience, take on greater responsibility and shape your career direction.
What you’ll bring:
This role would suit an early to mid career safety or quality professional who enjoys working in a structured environment and building trusted relationships across operational and technical teams.
- Experience in aviation safety,
quality, compliance or another regulated, safety critical environment.
- Practical experience in one or more of auditing, investigations, risk assessment or corrective-action management.
- Strong written communication, analytical and organisational skills, with close attention to detail.
- A cooperative, practical approach and a commitment to positive safety culture.
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
High regarded, but not essential
- Knowledge of CASA regulations, ICAO standards or aviation legislation.
- Operational, engineering, maintenance or airworthiness experience, including LAME or equivalent qualifications.
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor training or other relevant audit qualifications.
- Experience with databases, Excel, data analysis or reporting tools.
What we offer:
- Specific training and ongoing coaching will be provided as required to support you in the role.
- Broad exposure across helicopter, fixed-wing and aerodrome operations.
- A supportive, inclusive team where your ideas and contribution will be visible.
- A modern workplace at Moorabbin Airport, close to the aircraft and teams you support.
- Access to our confidential Employee Assistance Program and a leadership team committed to staff wellbeing and sustainable performance.
- Competitive remuneration based on your skills and experience.
Ready to grow with Microflite?
If you want to build your aviation safety and quality career in a varied, operational environment, we would love to hear from you. If you meet most, but not necessarily all, of the criteria and believe your experience can transfer to this role, we encourage you to apply.
