AAT is Australia's largest motor vehicle, RoRo and mixed cargo terminal operator. Our Port Kembla terminal handles motor vehicles, general cargo, containers, break bulk, steel and project cargo across a busy multi-purpose port environment.
We're looking for Casual Yard Operators to join our Port Kembla operations team.
About the role
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Forklift operations across the terminal yard (core part of the role)
- Lashing and unlashing of cargo
- Loading and restraining cargo in line with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and load restraint requirements
- General housekeeping duties — keeping the yard, wharf and work areas clean, tidy and safe
- Assisting with cargo receival, delivery and yard movements
- Other general manual terminal tasks as directed
- Working safely around vessels, heavy vehicles and moving plant
About you
- Current forklift licence (LF) with hands-on experience — essential
- Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, including safe loading and load restraint
- Physically fit and comfortable with repetitive manual work, including lashing and housekeeping tasks
- Strong safety focus and ability to follow procedures in a live port environment
- Reliable, punctual and a positive team player
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, in line with vessel schedules
- MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) or willingness to obtain one
- Reliable transport to Port Kembla
Dogging, rigging or other high-risk work tickets would be a bonus but are not required.
