Sharp & Carter is partnering exclusively with a well-established, privately-owned food processing and export business with a significant national and international footprint. With processing facilities across multiple states, our client supplies premium products to customers locally and abroad. The numbers tell the story, this is a business with genuinely massive turnover, high transaction volume and a finance function to match.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working within a finance team of 12-15, this is an excellent prospect for an Assistant Financial Accountant.

You'll get broad, hands-on exposure to financial accounting, reconciliations and reporting within a business where the pace never really slows down, ideal for someone who wants to learn fast and be trusted with real responsibility early.

Key responsibilities include

- Assisting with month-end close, including preparation of journals, accruals and prepayments

- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies

- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting schedules

- Assisting with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals and depreciation

- Supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable reconciliations

- Assisting with BAS/GST preparation and other statutory compliance requirements

- Supporting the year-end audit process, including preparation of workpapers and schedules





- Contributing to process improvement and system initiatives within a high-volume finance function

- Building strong working relationships across finance and operations, and communicating clearly with stakeholders at all levels

About You

- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce

- CA/CPA studying or intending to commence
- ideally experience with exposure to a high-volume, transactional or manufacturing environment

- Strong technical accounting fundamentals, with solid Excel skills
- A natural self-starter who takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what's next

- Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- A genuine team player who will thrive in a close-knit, high-performing team

- Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working at pace in a agile, fast-moving business
