NSW Treasury is seeking expressions of interest from highly accomplished and strategic senior executive leaders for the role of Director, Treasury Strategic Coordination.

Role impact and contribution The Director, Treasury Strategic Coordination, leads organisation-wide strategic and business planning and provides high-level advice to the Treasury Executive on the development and implementation of organisational strategy.

The role leads the strategic coordination, organisational performance reporting and priority initiatives to align Treasury’s resources and activities with its strategic objectives and support the delivery of government and Treasury priorities.

You will be responsible for:

- leading and developing a high-performing team responsible for delivering Treasury’s strategic coordination priorities
- leading the development and evolution of Treasury’s organisation-wide corporate strategies and plans
- leading strategic and business planning processes that enable leaders and teams to align their delivery, resources and priorities with Treasury’s corporate strategies and objectives
- leading the development of strategies and implementation plans in key areas of focus, including digital, climate and other emerging priorities
- leading Treasury’s organisational performance reporting processes and developing effective reporting tools, frameworks and processes
- coordinating and reporting on Treasury’s current election commitments, including liaison with ministerial offices and participation in sector-wide forums
- leading the scoping and coordination of Treasury’s election commitments for an incoming government
- providing strategic input into resource allocation, financial management, workforce planning and risk management processes
- leading priority strategic initiatives, including climate-related financial disclosures, executive planning and engagement activities,



and other cross-Treasury initiatives
- providing strategic advice, guidance and thought leadership to Treasury’s senior executives and ministerial stakeholders.

The team

You will join the Treasury Strategic Coordination team within Treasury Finance and Services, part of the Financial Management and Services Group.

Treasury Strategic Coordination facilitates strategic planning and reporting across the organisation, monitors government election commitments relevant to Treasury and contributes to the development of the senior leadership team’s capabilities.

The broader Treasury Finance and Services Division provides support across Treasury’s workforce, reputation management and transparency responsibilities. Its functions include People and Talent, Communications, Treasury Strategic Coordination and Treasury Finance.

What you can bring to the role

We are seeking an accomplished strategic leader who can operate effectively across a large and complex organisation, work collaboratively with senior stakeholders and translate organisational priorities into practical strategies, plans and measurable outcomes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- extensive experience in organisation-wide strategy development, strategic and business planning, and implementing strategic priorities in a large and complex environment
- demonstrated strategy experience, preferably gained within a management consulting environment
- extensive experience leading major programs, projects and change initiatives
- experience coordinating complex cross-organisational priorities and interdependencies
- substantial management experience across commercial, financial, change and risk matters
- demonstrated success managing relationships across government and public service agencies
- experience providing strategic advice to senior executives
- strong facilitation skills, including experience leading executive sessions and workshops
- highly developed influencing and negotiation skills
- knowledge and understanding of NSW Government policies and programs
- tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience and training.

You will be a credible strategic adviser and collaborative leader who can build organisation-wide alignment, navigate competing priorities and develop practical responses to emerging government and organisational issues.
