Independent Members (Voluntary Positions)
Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our Finance, Audit, Risk and Management (FARM) Committee as Independent Members. Help us strengthen governance, accountability and organisational excellence while supporting the future of Wadawurrung People and Country
These are voluntary committee appointments that provide an opportunity to contribute your expertise while supporting the aspirations, governance and long-term sustainability of the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners and Country. The FARM Committee plays an important advisory role to the WTOAC Board, helping strengthen financial stewardship, governance, risk management and organisational performance.
Available Positions
We are seeking one Independent Member for each of the following specialist areas:
Financial and Audit
- Financial management and reporting
- Audit, assurance and internal controls
- Financial governance and compliance
- Strategic financial oversight
Operations and Service Delivery
- Organisational performance and service delivery
- Business operations and continuous improvement
- Workforce planning and capability
- Program and project oversight
Risk and Governance
- Enterprise risk management
- Governance systems and frameworks
- Compliance and regulatory oversight
- Board governance and organisational accountability
About the Roles
As an Independent Member, you will provide specialist advice and an external perspective to assist the FARM Committee and Board in fulfilling their responsibilities. Committee members contribute to discussions, review key organisational information,
and provide recommendations to support sound decision-making. Final decisions remain the responsibility of the WTOAC Board.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals who:
- Have demonstrated expertise in one of the specialist areas listed above.
- Have experience serving on boards, committees, advisory groups, or senior leadership roles.
- Can analyse information objectively and provide strategic advice.
- Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and sound judgement.
- Have a genuine respect for Aboriginal culture, knowledge systems, and self-determination.
- Are committed to working collaboratively within a community-controlled organisation.
Experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, not for profit organisations, or government funded sectors is highly regarded.
Commitment
- Voluntary appointment (non-employee position).
- Initial term of two years, with eligibility for reappointment.
- Approximately four to six meetings per year.
- Meetings may be attended in person or online
