Ravenshoe Hotel is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team in Ravenshoe, Far North Queensland.
Established in 1927, Ravenshoe Hotel is a well-known local venue and home to Queensland’s highest pub, offering quality meals, a welcoming country atmosphere and heritage accommodation. The hotel’s in-house restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and caters for locals, travellers and special events.
As Cook, you will be responsible for managing your designated section of the kitchen and supporting the Head Chef in delivering consistent, high-quality meals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present a variety of meals in accordance with the hotel’s menu and kitchen standards.
- Assist with daily food preparation and ensure ingredients are ready for service.
- Cook menu items accurately and consistently during lunch and dinner service.
- Follow recipes, portion control requirements and presentation standards.
- Maintain appropriate food storage, stock rotation and temperature control procedures.
- Ensure food is handled and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Keep kitchen work areas, utensils and equipment clean and organised.
- Assist with receiving, checking and storing food deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Head Chef or senior kitchen staff.
- Minimise food wastage and assist with effective stock usage.
- Work closely with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Assist with preparation for functions, group bookings and busy service periods where required.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and report any hazards or equipment issues.
- Perform general kitchen duties as required to support the productive operation of the hotel kitchen.
The successful candidate will have relevant commercial cookery qualifications, demonstrated experience working in a busy kitchen environment and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
