The Opportunity
SEE Group have a great career prospect available for a Leading Hand to join our highly professional and skilled roading infrastructure team. This is a diverse and fast-paced full-time permanent role predominantly based in Springfield, Brisbane. In joining a certified ‘Great Place to Work’ you will have the opportunity to lead the day-to-day supervision of people, plant, and materials to safely deliver high-quality infrastructure outcomes on local projects.
Responsibilities You will lead small crews and coordinate daily site activities on road widening, pavement, drainage, and associated civil works.
Key duties include:
- Understanding and monitoring OHS and environmental requirements on council and TMR-aligned projects
- Arranging plant, labour, and material resources to meet project programs
- Directing and monitoring subcontractors, suppliers, and plant hire
- Daily monitoring of site activity costs and productivity
- Maintaining compliance with the construction program and council specifications
- Keeping accurate daily records of site activities, quantities, and progress
- Ensuring safety expectations and processes are consistently met
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Demonstrated experience in the civil construction industry, ideally on road widening, infrastructure, and council projects in South East Queensland
- Strong knowledge of paving, roadworks, drainage, bulk earthworks, and related infrastructure
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide crews and subcontractors
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, drawings, and council/TMR standards
- Accurate record keeping and basic reporting skills
- Good communication skills with supervisors, engineers, council representatives, and site teams
- Ability to deliver tasks within required timeframes and program milestones
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to being a strong team player
