Based at Phillip Island Nature Parks, Phillip Island (Milawul), this is a great opportunity for a Ranger to be a part of the Phillip Island Nature Parks Reserves team to help protect the iconic Milawul coastal reserves and beaches, woodlands and wetlands. Get involved in a variety of diverse tasks across Milawul. And have a genuine impact on conservation outcomes.
About the role
The reserves team is collaborative and supportive, taking pride in achieving high-quality conservation outcomes and working closely with Traditional Owners, volunteers, contractors and stakeholders to protect environmental and cultural values. As a Ranger your main focus is to plan for, and deliver, on-ground reserve management activities as directed by the Senior Ranger. Milawul lies within a culturally and environmentally diverse landscape and the rangers tasks will vary, this could be restoring habitat, maintaining walking trails, pest plant and animal control compliance, wildlife management, flora or fauna monitoring surveys or participating in fire and emergency response.

We're looking for someone with:
- Skills and experience using small plant and equipment (e.g. brush cutter, chainsaw, chipper) and practical skills; coop installation, fence repair, small engine maintenance etc.
- Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent practical experience in environmental management, conservation and land management, biosecurity, parks, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Current Working with Children Check, manual Victorian drivers licence and First Aid Level 2 with CPR are requirements for the role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage effectively with visitors, community groups, volunteers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Adaptability, initiative and good problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- The ability to work outdoors, including undertaking rostered weekend work as required.
Desirable (but not essential):
- 4WD qualification and experience, Chainsaw Trim and Cross Cut qualification and experience, General Fire Fighter qualification and experience, Remote Piloted Aircraft (Drone) Licence, Compliance and enforcement experience, including a Certificate IV in Government Investigations, arborist qualification or experience, Marine licence.
