Drover Ag Recruitment

Tarcutta

The Story
If you are an ambitious, data-driven livestock professional seeking an accelerated pathway into farm management, this dynamic role offers an exceptional career launchpad.

Located just 5km from Tarcutta in the highly regarded Riverina region and 45km from Wagga Wagga, this family-owned business is currently in the process of doubling the size of its aggregation. With the owners shifting their focus to working on the business rather than in it, a brand-new position has been created for a capable Assistant Manager to take complete day-to-day operational autonomy of one of the enterprise's two premier properties. This is a strictly commercial, highly disciplined operation that runs 1,800 breeders as part of a 3,500-head cattle program. Every decision is benchmarked, and the herd is expected to perform. If you bring compassion, genuine interest, and high enthusiasm, the owners will give you complete room to flourish, eager to hand over as much responsibility as you can handle on a clear trajectory toward overall management.

The Operation
Spanning 2,800 hectares of prime country along the Tarcutta Creek, the property runs approximately 1,800 commercial Angus breeding cows bred specifically for feedlot entry. The enterprise is set up for high efficiency, featuring central laneway systems and modern handling facilities. Capable working dogs are highly valued and welcomed here for stock movement.

The breeding system centres on early spring calving and January weaning, with all progeny grown out and marketed at 15 months of age to the feedlot industry. Genetics are heavily anchored in industry-leading studs, including Rennylea and Lawson Angus. Production is driven by intensive agronomy—using regular soil and tissue testing, heavy fertiliser applications, strict broadleaf weed control,

and proactive pasture renewal. The operation utilises AgriWebb alongside an in-paddock Optiweigh unit (with plans to acquire more) to continuously track performance. If additional staff are required during peak times, they can be easily sourced from within the aggregation's team, ensuring availability and efficiency.

The Role
Reporting directly to the family owners, you will step into a high-autonomy position managing the day-to-day operations of this 2,800-hectare property. You will lead stock shifts, execute herd health and nutrition programs, oversee calving and weaning, and manage grazing rotations to keep pastures in peak order.

Crucially, you will take complete ownership of AgriWebb to drive its full potential, actively participate in commercial benchmarking, and manage data collection, compliance, and basic farm financials. You will collaborate with agronomists to drive paddock performance and have direct input into genetic selection and bull purchasing decisions. As you demonstrate strong leadership, compliance, and operational capability, the family will progressively transition overall farm management responsibilities to you.

The Ideal Candidate We are seeking an analytical, tech-savvy cattle professional with exceptional "stock sense" who understands that "you can't manage what you don't measure." You must bring a sharp commercial focus, strong compliance and documentation skills,

and a passion for data-driven livestock production.

Essential attributes include:

- Solid practical experience in commercial beef cattle management, stock handling, and herd health.
- Strong stock sense, accompanied by a capable team of working dogs - not a necessity.
- High level of compliance, record-keeping, and documentation skills, with a good grasp of numbers and basic farm financials.
- Eagerness to participate in commercial benchmarking and take full ownership of AgriWebb and Optiweigh performance tracking.
- Ability to work alongside agronomists, manage pasture inputs, and maintain high-producing grazing systems.
- High self-motivation, solid problem-solving skills, and a desire to take on total operational ownership.

The Offer
Our clients recognise that quality people drive business growth and are offering a highly competitive package well above industry standards to attract the right person to become an integral part of their team. Accommodation is a large, open-plan 4-bedroom brick home set on the banks of Tarcutta Creek, surrounded by established trees and gardens, complete with stables, excellent shedding, and a garage.

Additional inclusions cover power and a work ute. Situated just 5km from Tarcutta, the front gate offers primary school bus connections to Tarcutta, as well as bus routes to secondary schools in Gundagai and Wagga Wagga (45km away), making it an ideal setup for families or individuals seeking a premium Riverina lifestyle.
