About the Role
As Technical Director, you will provide strategic leadership across all maintenance and engineering functions, ensuring the safe,
reliable and effective operation of the Gold Coast Light Rail network. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and act as the professional head of engineering for the business.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and developing high-performing engineering, infrastructure, and maintenance teams.
- Driving a solid safety culture and ensuring compliance with all rail safety and maintenance obligations.
- Providing strategic oversight of infrastructure and rolling stock maintenance activities to optimise whole-contract outcomes.
- Preparing and managing maintenance budgets and key service contracts.
- Leading asset management initiatives to optimise long-term asset performance and value.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of critical maintenance, asset management, and operational plans.
- Developing and applying contractual PSR documents, including Traffic Management, Asset Management and Technical Maintenance Plans.
- Maintaining effective skilled relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting whole-of-business objectives through effective maintenance planning and operational excellence.
- Participating in the regular on-call Director roster.
- Actively participating as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced engineering leader who thrives in a complex operational environment and is passionate about delivering safe, reliable and high-performing transport services.
To be successful in this role, you will bring
Essential Qualifications and Competencies
- Degree qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
- Minimum five years’ experience in managing rail industry maintenance or an equivalent safety-critical environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing both directly employed teams and subcontracted service providers.
- Strong asset management expertise and experience using Computerised Asset Management Systems (CAMS).
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant rail industry legislation, regulations and standards.
- Work as a Rail Safety Worker Category 1 (safety critical worker).
- Ability to act as the Qualified Business Person (QBP) for Keolis Gold Coast Pty Ltd’s Electrical Contractor licence.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
Highly Regarded
- Chartered Engineer status, with areas of practice in Asset Management and Leadership & Management.
- Experience operating within a public transport, rail, infrastructure, or other safety-critical environment.
