WJ Recruitment has picked up multiple permanent opportunities for experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Mobile Plant Mechanics and Heavy Earthmoving Technicians with a rapidly growing heavy equipment business in Brisbane.

We currently have:

3 x Workshop Technician positions
1 x Field Service Technician position

All positions are permanent full-time and based from a brand-new purpose-built facility in Archerfield, Brisbane.

There is a significant amount of overtime available for technicians who want the hours, providing earning potential of approximately $150,000–$200,000+ per year.

If you've spent years working FIFO for the money but would like to get back to Brisbane and be home more often, this could be well worth a conversation.

The Hours

Standard hours are:

Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm

There is significant overtime available, including opportunities to start earlier, finish later and work additional hours for those who want them.

Saturday overtime is also available.

Workshop Technician – 3 Positions

The Workshop Technician positions are primarily based from the Archerfield facility, carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across heavy construction and earthmoving equipment.

Your work will include:

- Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

- Mechanical repairs

- Fault finding and diagnostics

- Electric-over-hydraulic systems

- Component repairs and replacement

- Diagnosing equipment faults and failures

- Supporting Field Service Technicians when required

- Completing service and repair reports

- Warranty documentation

- Maintaining strong workshop and safety standards





We're looking for technicians who can properly diagnose and repair equipment, rather than simply perform scheduled servicing.

You'll ideally have:

- Diesel / Heavy Earthmoving trade qualification

- Minimum 4 years post-trade experience

- Heavy earthmoving or mobile plant experience

- Strong mechanical fault-finding ability

- Good understanding of electric-over-hydraulic systems

- Robust servicing and repair experience

- MR or HR licence desirable

These requirements closely align with the Workshop Technician position description, which specifically calls for a Diesel/Heavy Earthmoving trade certificate, four years' post-trade experience and electric-over-hydraulic knowledge.

Field Service Technician – 1 Position

Prefer being out in the field?

We also have a permanent Field Service Technician opportunity based from Archerfield.

You'll travel to customer sites carrying out servicing, breakdowns, diagnostics and repairs, with a focus on getting equipment operational and minimising customer downtime.

Your work will include:

- Responding to customer breakdowns

- Field servicing and preventative maintenance

- Fault finding and diagnostics

- Heavy equipment repairs

- Hydraulic fault finding

- Pneumatic and electrical systems

- Diagnostic software

- Customer liaison

- Field-service reporting

- Warranty documentation

- Supporting the workshop when required

This role will suit someone who's comfortable working autonomously, solving problems and dealing directly with customers.

You'll ideally have:

- Relevant Heavy Diesel / Mobile Plant / Heavy Earthmoving trade qualification

- Minimum 2 years post-trade experience

- Heavy earthmoving experience and/or relevant crushing & screening experience





- Strong hydraulic knowledge

- Electrical and pneumatic fault-finding ability

- Diagnostic software experience

- Good customer-facing communication skills

- MR or HR truck licence

The Field Service position specifically recognises post-trade earthmoving experience or relevant experience with crushing and screening equipment such as Sandvik, Portafill or similar.

The business operates across a broad range of heavy equipment, including:

- Hyundai Construction Equipment

- Ammann Compaction

- Bergmann swivel dumpers

- Sandvik Crushing & Screening

- Portafill Crushing & Screening

- Screencore stackers

- Furukawa blast drills and rock hammers

The business is also rapidly expanding its crushing and screening division, so technicians with strong crusher and screen maintenance experience are highly encouraged to apply.
