Healesville

About the College

Located on a beautiful 136-acre property in the Yarra Valley, 60 kilometres east of the Melbourne CBD, Worawa Aboriginal College is an Aboriginal community initiative and Australia's only registered Independent Aboriginal Boarding School for girls.

Worawa provides education and boarding for Aboriginal girls in Years 7–12 from communities across Australia, supporting young Aboriginal women to leave the College confident in who they are, where they want to go and what they can contribute to their communities and the wider world.

At the heart of Worawa is a strong commitment to Aboriginal culture, identity and self-determination, with knowledge and respect for Aboriginal cultural beliefs, values and practices embedded in the College ethos. This position requires the incumbent to embrace the Worawa ethos of Aboriginal values, Aboriginal-led decision making and the right to Aboriginal self-determination.

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished and highly organised Executive Officer to work closely with our Executive Director/Principal and Board and lead the effective coordination of the Executive Office.

This is a varied and influential role for someone who enjoys working across an organisation, bringing structure to complexity and ensuring important priorities move from discussion to action.

You will be at the centre of governance, strategic projects, organisational reporting and executive coordination - connecting people and information, keeping key commitments on track and supporting effective decision-making across the College.

In this role, you will:

- Provide high-level strategic and executive support to the Executive Director/Principal.
- Coordinate Board and Committee governance and secretariat functions.
- Lead and coordinate strategic projects and organisational initiatives.
- Coordinate organisational reporting, regulatory submissions, audits, grants and funding requirements.
- Coordinate the College's policy governance and document management processes.

- Build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate key executive and organisational communications.

About You

As an Aboriginal-led College, Worawa is committed to strengthening Aboriginal representation within its workforce and particularly encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates to apply.

You may already be an Executive Officer, Governance Officer, Board Secretariat professional or senior Executive Assistant ready to step into a broader role.

What matters most is that you are highly organised, proactive and an exceptional communicator who can see the bigger picture while keeping a firm eye on the detail.

You will bring:

- Experience providing high-level support to a CEO, Executive Director, Principal or senior executive.
- Experience supporting Boards and governance structures, including secretariat functions.
- Exceptional written communication, research and analytical skills.
- Strong organisational and project management capability.
- Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to work with a high degree of initiative and independence.
- Solid relationship-building and communication skills, together with an understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal cultures.

Qualifications in governance, business administration, public administration, project management or a related field will be highly regarded, along with relevant experience in education, community services or Aboriginal organisations.

Why work with us?

This is an opportunity to bring your skills to an organisation with a clear purpose, in a varied and autonomous role working closely with the Executive Director/Principal and Board on governance, strategic priorities and organisational initiatives.

Worawa is a Not-for-Profit organisation and registered PBI Charity and offers excellent salary packaging benefits.

Worawa Aboriginal College is committed to child safety and has zero tolerance for child abuse.
