Great purchasing is often invisible. Stock is available, suppliers deliver, margins hold and problems are handled before they affect the customer.

This permanent part-time opportunity will see you take ownership of an established purchasing portfolio for a busy floral wholesaler supplying florists and creative businesses across WA.

Working three to four days per week, you’ll manage domestic and international suppliers, negotiate commercial outcomes, monitor stock performance and help ensure the right products are available at the right time. This is a hands-on purchasing role with genuine autonomy, supported by improved dashboards, reporting and AI-driven automation.

The details

- Permanent part-time position, three to four days per week
- West Leederville location, opposite the train station
- $80,000 to $90,000 + superannuation, pro rata
- Additional paid hours available for leave coverage and international supplier requirements

What you’ll own

- Managing an assigned purchasing portfolio across domestic and international suppliers
- Building strong supplier relationships and maintaining continuity of supply
- Negotiating pricing, trading terms and supply agreements
- Monitoring stock levels, purchasing trends, shrink and inventory performance
- Supporting forecasting and stock planning across fresh and non-perishable ranges
- Identifying sourcing and negotiation opportunities that improve gross margin
- Using purchasing data, dashboards and alerts to identify risks and support commercial decisions
- Finding alternative suppliers to reduce supply risk and improve performance
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to align purchasing with operational requirements
- Supporting the wider purchasing team during leave and peak periods

International supplier support





Part of your portfolio will include suppliers across international markets, particularly South America and Ecuador.

Due to time-zone differences, you’ll undertake approximately four to six hours of additional supplier engagement each week, generally across two or three evenings from home. These hours are fully compensated and paid separately from the base salary.

What you’ll bring

- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, category management, supply chain or a senior buying role
- Strong commercial acumen and confidence managing supplier relationships
- Experience negotiating pricing, terms and commercial outcomes
- Practical experience with forecasting, inventory and stock performance
- A valuable understanding of freight, pricing, margin and supply risk
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with purchasing data and reporting tools
- Experience with fresh, perishable, wholesale or FMCG products would be highly regarded
- The ability to manage a portfolio independently while working collaboratively with a broader team
- Strong organisation, communication and attention to detail
- A practical mindset and willingness to embrace improved reporting, automation and AI tools
