ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Building on an exciting growth trajectory and guided by a renewed purpose to inspire, connect and transform, AWA is evolving from a connector of water professionals into a catalyst for system-wide change.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Engagement and Member Value, you'll lead the established multidisciplinary team responsible for positioning AWA's value, building demand and supporting growth across membership, events, learning and other products and services.

You'll be responsible for the organisation's marketing operating system — establishing and continuously improving planning, prioritisation,

accountabilities, workflows and operating discipline to create greater clarity and consistency and enable the team to deliver their best work.

With a strong commercial and audience focus, you'll connect strategy with execution and use customer journey thinking, marketing data and performance literacy to build demand, strengthen pipelines and support conversion.

You'll work closely with leaders across the organisation to ensure marketing operates as a strategic organisation-wide capability.

This role will see you:

- lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of marketing and communications specialists

- strengthen and evolve ways of working, including planning, prioritisation, capacity management, campaign governance, workflows and cross-functional accountabilities

- translate organisational, product and commercial objectives into audience-led marketing strategies and go-to-market plans

- work collaboratively across functions, partnering with product and service owners to align marketing priorities, positioning and demand generation with organisational and commercial objectives

- lead positioning and demand generation across AWA's portfolio, building pipelines and supporting conversion

- develop effective customer and member journeys

- use data, funnel performance, conversion and ROI to measure effectiveness and inform marketing investment

- oversee brand, communications, campaigns, reputation and the marketing budget

- lead the effective use and continuous improvement of digital platforms, CRM, marketing automation and AI, working closely with the data and technology team.

About you

You’re an experienced senior marketer with a strong background leading multidisciplinary teams and translating organisational and commercial objectives into marketing strategies, plans and measurable results.

You're a supportive, people-first leader who provides clear direction and accountability, is comfortable challenging thinking, making decisions and setting priorities — ultimately empowering specialist professionals to do their best work.

You bring strong commercial marketing capability, with a track record across demand generation, customer journeys, pipeline, conversion and marketing ROI.

You're confident using data and insight to understand performance, identify opportunities and make informed decisions.

You have a strong understanding of CRM, marketing automation, digital campaigns, analytics and emerging technology. You can confidently lead specialists and assess performance without needing to be the technical expert or hands-on executor.

You're a confident and collaborative stakeholder leader who can work across organisational boundaries, manage competing priorities and make sensible trade-offs while maintaining constructive relationships.

You're comfortable with change and ambiguity and enjoy creating clarity, improving ways of working and using technology, automation and AI to enable better results.

While water or association sector experience is not a prerequisite, you have a genuine interest in doing work that matters in a purpose-driven organisation.
