Senior Mining Engineer

Join this exciting recent company, building a culture and embarking on the next phase of growth. As the business ramps up this unique truck and shovel operation, has engaged us to find a Senior Mining Engineer to join the site technical team, taking ownership of short to medium term mine planning.

About the Role

This is a senior, site-based technical role with genuine influence over how the mine plan is executed. You will lead short to medium term planning for the truck and shovel operation, translating the mine plan into robust, achievable schedules that align production, equipment, and grade control requirements across the coming weeks and months.

You will work closely with the Technical Services Manager and the broader technical services team to ensure plans are realistic, safe, and responsive to changing pit conditions, while also providing site leadership and technical direction to less experienced engineers. You'll play a key role supporting the site through its ramp-up phase, helping to build planning discipline and rigour as the operation scales up.

About You

You bring solid senior-level site experience in short to medium term mine planning within a truck and shovel environment, and you're comfortable operating across daily, weekly, monthly, and quarter-by-quarter horizons. You lead by example, are confident engaging with senior stakeholders, and enjoy mentoring and developing junior planning engineers.

Key Requirements

- Relevant degree qualification in Mining Engineering or similar

- Significant site experience in short to medium term planning within a truck and shovel operation

- Demonstrated site leadership experience, including mentoring or supervising junior engineers

- Hands-on scheduling capability (Spry, Deswick, Vulcan, or similar planning software)

- Strong understanding of open cut coal mining operations and production constraints across short and medium term horizons

- Ability to work closely with operations, technical services, and survey teams on site

- Strong communication skills across site and senior technical stakeholders
