Ultima Care is seeking enrolled nurses interested in using their existing skills in a consistent, relationship-based home setting. Casual and permanent part-time opportunities available.
About the role
This is not a traditional nursing position. You will be employed within a disability support role under the SCHADS Award Home Care stream. You will not be expected to exercise independent nursing authority or work outside the authorised health management plans and your assigned responsibilities.
You will assist an adult woman with a physical and neurological disability to live safely in her family home, remain involved with her children and maintain control over her daily life.
The participant is looking for workers who see her as a person first, anticipate what needs doing and reduce the pressure on her without taking over.
The role includes:
- Personal care and assistance with daily activities
- Two-worker hoist transfers and safe manual handling
- Mobility, positioning and pressure care
- Household routines, meal preparation and maintaining an organised home
- Transport, appointments and community access
- Following authorised high-intensity health management plans
- Enteral feeding support following participant-specific training and competency assessment
- Recognising changes in health and following escalation procedures
- Accurate documentation and shift handovers
- Working respectfully within a busy family home
This role assists the participant to fulfil her parenting role. It is not a childcare position.
Regular morning, afternoon, weekend and inactive overnight shifts are available. Applicants do not need to be available for every shift.
We are particularly interested in enrolled nurses who:
- Value continuity and one-to-one work
- Use initiative while respecting autonomy
- Are confident with personal care and complex physical needs
- Can follow detailed health management plans
- Are reliable, calm and emotionally mature
- Want regular work outside a hospital or residential setting
Essential requirements:
- Current AHPRA registration as an enrolled nurse
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one
- Current National Police Clearance
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Australian driver’s licence
- Reliable, registered and appropriately insured vehicle
- Australian working rights
- Satisfactory employment references
- Willingness to complete participant-specific training and competency assessments
The casual ordinary weekday rate is $45 per hour plus superannuation. Applicable weekend, public holiday and other penalties and allowances will be paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award. Permanent part-time rates will be discussed based on the applicable classification and employment arrangements.
Paid orientation, participant-specific training and buddy shifts will be provided.
To apply, please provide your résumé, a short cover letter, your regular availability and your suburb or town of residence.
