Senior Communications Advisor (AO6) – Major Transport Infrastructure Projects

Be part of delivering some of Queensland's most significant transport infrastructure projects on the Sunshine Coast, including The Wave Stage 3 (Metro) and the Mooloolah River Interchange (MRI) Upgrade.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Communications Advisor (AO6) to join TMR's North Coast Region Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team, working closely with project teams, contractors and the community to support the delivery of transformational infrastructure.

The Opportunity

This role sits at the heart of major project delivery. You'll lead communications and engagement for designated project packages, acting as the key interface between TMR and contractor delivery teams to ensure coordinated, proactive and community-focused communications throughout construction.

You'll work alongside experienced project professionals, technical specialists and communications practitioners in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment, with your work directly shaping how communities and stakeholders experience major infrastructure delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead development and delivery of communications and stakeholder engagement strategies for assigned project packages

- Act as the key communications interface between TMR and contractor delivery teams

- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, government agencies, councils, businesses,



community groups and impacted stakeholders

- Provide strategic advice to project managers and contractor representatives on communications, engagement and issue management

- Quality check communications and engagement products for alignment with departmental standards and best practice

- Coordinate construction communications, including notifications, community engagement, stakeholder briefings and issue responses

- Identify and help mitigate stakeholder and community risks

- Monitor community sentiment and provide recommendations to support project decision-making

- Represent TMR in meetings with contractors, stakeholders and community representatives

About You

- Demonstrated experience delivering communications and stakeholder engagement within a contractor-delivered, alliance, joint venture or major infrastructure project workplace

- Experience working within integrated project teams across multiple organisations and disciplines

- Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills across diverse stakeholder groups

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, accessible messaging

- Sound judgement managing issues,



risks and sensitive stakeholder matters in fast-paced environments

- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage competing priorities independently

Highly regarded (not mandatory):

- Experience on major transport, infrastructure or construction projects

- Experience with principal contractors, alliance teams or major project consortia

- IAP2 certification or equivalent

- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline

The Details

- Classification: AO6, Administration

- Pay rate: From $79.18 to $84.55 per hour, depending on experience (AO6.1–AO6.4)

- Hours: Up to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm

- Contract term: 5 year initial contract with a 12-month extension option

- Location: Sunshine Coast, North Coast Region

- Criminal history check required
