About the role

You'll lead the front of house team and take ownership of how the floor and bar operate day to day. Functions and events will also be an important part of the role. You'll help manage enquiries, bookings and functions from the first conversation through to delivery on the day, making sure people have a excellent experience and the team knows what is happening. There's also plenty of scope to be creative. We'd love this person to help us think about how we can make more of our space through functions, events and other ideas that bring people into Tallboy, whether that's private celebrations, community events, beer-related events or something we haven't thought of yet.

Key responsibilities

- Leading, supporting and developing the FOH team

- Setting the standard for warm, thoughtful and genuinely good customer service

- Keeping the floor and bar running smoothly, particularly when it gets busy

- Managing, training and rostering the team

- Handling manager responsibilities including opening, closing and cash management

- Dealing calmly and confidently with issues that arise in hospitality

- Working closely with the wider venue team to keep improving how Tallboy operates and feels

- Managing enquiries, bookings and functions from first conversation through to delivery

About you

- Solid hospitality experience and genuine experience leading a team





- Genuinely enjoys hospitality and looking after people

- Likes leading a team and helping people become better at what they do

- Warm, approachable and confident with customers

- Stays calm and practical when things get busy

- Notices what needs doing and is willing to jump in

- Can give clear direction, feedback and encouragement

- Comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility for them

- Understands what excellent customer service looks like and can build that standard across a team

- Organised enough to manage bookings, functions and the moving parts of a busy venue

About us

Tallboy and Moose is a family-owned craft brewery located just over the Thornbury/Preston boundary. The brewpub operates Wed-Sun with a busy roster of functions and events including weekly trivia, monthly drag bingo, live music, wrestling, and our famous Canada Day party. Not to mention this October we will be celebrating our tenth birthday!

Tallboy and Moose offers real work/life balance with consecutive days off, a 38-40 hour workweek, 10pm close weeknights and midnight weekends. You will also receive a generous beer allowance and competitive remuneration dependant on experience.
