About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Yan Melbourne Asian Smokehouse as a Sous Chef. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality dishes to our discerning customers. This full-time position is based in our restaurant located in South Yarra VIC 3141.

What you'll be doing

1. Assisting the Head Chef in the management and supervision of the kitchen team

2. Helping to create and execute innovative seasonal menus that showcase the best of local and seasonal produce

3. Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards

4. Monitoring inventory levels and placing orders as needed

5. Training and developing kitchen staff to maintain high standards of culinary excellence

6. Collaborating with the front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience

What we're looking for

1. Minimum of 1.5 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a reputable restaurant or hospitality establishment

2. Qualifications in commercial cookery certificate 3 or 4, or diploma of hospitality management

3. Excellent knowledge of food preparation techniques, menu planning and cost control





4. Strong leadership and team management skills

5. Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a high level of attention to detail

6. Passion for creating exceptional dining experiences and a commitment to using the freshest, high-quality ingredients

7. Preferred Australian citizen and permanent resident
