Data Analyst (Payroll) 9-Month Contract | Sydney (Hybrid)

About the Role
Based in Sydney (hybrid) on a 9-month contract, this role sits within a transformation program bringing multiple systems and entities. You'll consolidate payroll data from across the group, interrogate it for gaps and inconsistencies, and reconcile the result so the program can trust its numbers.

Consolidate payroll data and files arriving from multiple systems and entities across the group
Analyse and interrogate the data to surface gaps, duplicates and inconsistencies before it reaches the target system
Prepare, load and verify data against target structures ahead of go live
Lead reconciliation activities, investigating variances and tracking them through to resolution
Build and maintain Excel-based tooling, including macros, to automate analysis and validation work
Skills and Experience
At least five years' experience in a data analyst or data-focused role
Advanced Excel skills, including building macros, used daily rather than occasionally
SQL or python skills are advantageous
Experience on a transformation, migration or system implementation program
A background in payroll, finance transformation or HRIS, payroll preferred
Comfortable working with data arriving in inconsistent formats from multiple sources
Solid reconciliation discipline, with the ability to explain why a variance exists, not just that it does
