Yard Operators — Port Kembla Cargo Terminal
Australian Amalgamated Terminals (AAT)
AAT is Australia's largest motor vehicle, RoRo and mixed cargo terminal operator. Our Port Kembla terminal handles motor vehicles, general cargo, containers, break bulk, steel and project cargo across a busy multi-purpose port environment.
We're looking for Casual Yard Operators to join our Port Kembla operations team.
About the role
Your day-to-day duties will include:
Forklift operations across the terminal yard (core part of the role)
Lashing and unlashing of cargo
Loading and restraining cargo in line with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and load restraint requirements
General housekeeping duties — keeping the yard, wharf and work areas clean, tidy and secure
Assisting with cargo receival, delivery and yard movements
Other general manual terminal tasks as directed
Working safely around vessels, heavy vehicles and moving plant
About you
Current forklift licence (LF) with hands-on experience — essential
Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, including safe loading and load restraint
Physically fit and comfortable with repetitive manual work, including lashing and housekeeping tasks
Solid safety focus and ability to follow procedures in a live port workplace
Reliable, punctual and a good team player
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, in line with vessel schedules
MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) or willingness to obtain one
Reliable transport to Port Kembla
Dogging, rigging or other high-risk work tickets would be a bonus but are not required.
