The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships (ATSIP) division partners with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, councils and stakeholders to drive meaningful progress on Closing the Gap, with a robust focus on improving education, housing and health outcomes, to provide First Nations peoples prospects and reduce disadvantage.
We support economic development by connecting major contractors with First Nations businesses, delivering targeted local plans that build skills, create jobs and grow enterprises and contribute to Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games participation goals while also celebrating culture and history as part of the Games legacy.
ATSIP also administers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage responsibilities under the relevant Acts, leads the community and personal histories and National Redress Scheme functions and champions culture and reconciliation through inclusive, culturally appropriate and community led and education-aligned outcomes.
