Fruit Fly Controller
Location: Barmera, South Australia 5345
Payrate: $38-$39 per hour
Shift Time: Full time hours | Monday - Friday | 8am - 4pm

About the Role

An opportunity is available for Fruit Fly Controllers to join a team delivering important pest management and biosecurity activities in the Barmera region. This role suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, is comfortable with physical tasks, and has the ability to operate 4WD vehicles while towing a trailer.

You will play a key role in monitoring and controlling fruit fly activity to help protect South Australia's agricultural industry.

Key Responsibilities
Operate 4WD vehicles and tow trailers to travel between locations servicing and monitoring fruit fly traps.
Inspect trees, crops, and surrounding areas for signs of fruit fly activity and carry out approved treatment procedures
Accurately enter field observations, trap results, and treatment details using digital systems and mapping tools.
Communicate with local residents and businesses, providing information about pest control activities and prevention methods.

Requirements




Current Full Driver's Licence (essential)
Experience or ability to drive 4WD vehicles and tow a trailer
Physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong attention to detail when inspecting traps and recording information
Confident communication skills when engaging with members of the public
National Police Clearance issued within the past 12 months (required)
Previous experience in agriculture, pest control, or biosecurity will be highly regarded
