Job Description

Yaandina Community Services is looking for a Youth Support Worker to join our Roebourne Youth Centre on a permanent part time basis. We run centre-based after-school activities and holiday programs designed to support young people by helping them build resilience and manage their lives with confidence. You'll work with a holistic approach, partnering with families and other service providers to create wraparound support in a welcoming, inclusive setting. This is a hands-on role where you'll make a real difference in the lives of local young people.

Duties include but not limited to.

Build trust and deliver trauma-informed support to young people facing adversity, with a focus on their active participation in decision‐making
n
Create and run low-barrier recreational and life skills programs tailored to diverse and disengaged youth in your community
n
Supervise the youth centre, respond calmly to incidents, and work collaboratively with local community groups and service providers
n

Role Requirements

n

Current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
n




Valid driver's licence and Senior First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
n
Mental Health First Aid - Youth qualification
n
Robust verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust with young people and families from diverse backgrounds
n
Competency in recognising early signs of distress and de-escalating volatile situations using trauma-informed approaches
n

Preferred Qualifications

n

n
Certificate in Youth Work (CH404221) or a related qualification
n
Demonstrated understanding of socio-economic challenges and community dynamics affecting local young people
n
Experience working with young people in community or youth service settings, with a track record of creating inclusive, low-barrier programs
n

Hourly rate is based off the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) pending qualifications and experience.
