Hybrid prospect (4 days in the office / 1 day from home)
Position Description
We are partnering with a well-known Australian business to recruit a Payroll Officer to join their Melbourne-based payroll team. Reporting to the Payroll Operations Manager, this role plays a key part in ensuring the timely and accurate payment of wages across the organisation while maintaining employee master data, payroll records and compliance with relevant awards and legislation. Job Responsibilities
This role will be reporting to the Payroll Manager and will be responsible for:
Assisting with end-to-end payroll processing, including off-cycle payments, ensuring all payroll deadlines are met accurately.
Processing employee lifecycle changes including current starters, terminations, salary changes, transfers and position amendments.
Responding to payroll enquiries via phone and email, escalating complex matters where required.
Maintaining employee payroll records, leave balances, allowances,
deductions and superannuation details.
Preparing payroll calculations relating to terminations, back pay, long service leave and other payroll adjustments.
Supporting payroll reporting, compliance activities, audits and continuous improvement projects
Ideal Candidate
Previous experience working within a Payroll Officer position, ideally in a medium to large organisation
Sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, superannuation and employment obligations
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume workloads and competing deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
Experience with payroll systems, with exposure to Preceda and or Dayforce
