Our client, State Property Building Services T/as Master Menders, is looking for an experienced Management Accountant, Senior Accountant or Assistant Finance Manager ready to step into their first Finance Manager position.
Ideally, you'll come from a construction, building, insurance restoration or similar project-based industry and be ready to take greater ownership of the finance function within a growing business.
About the role
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, working closely with the Managing Director, operational managers and senior leadership, with mentoring and technical support from an experienced fractional CFO.
You'll oversee a small finance team across AP, AR and payroll, including offshore support, and be responsible for:
Month-end, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting
Budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, WIP and job costing
Invoicing, AP/AR and project financial reporting
Supporting operational and senior leaders with commercial insights
Improving finance systems, processes and reporting
Mentoring and supporting junior finance staff
Working across Xero, Excel and job/project management systems
Partnering with the fractional CFO to strengthen the finance function as the business grows
Office-based 5 days per week | 8:30am–5:00pm with some flexibility when life gets busy
This is a hands‐on management accounting role- ideal for someone who wants to move beyond traditional accounting and take greater ownership and influence within a business.
About you
You don't need to have held a Finance Manager title before.
We're looking for someone with strong technical accounting foundations who is ready to step up.
You'll ideally have:
Experience in construction, building, insurance restoration or another project-based industry
Strong management accounting experience across month-end, reconciliations and reporting
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, WIP and job costing
Experience mentoring or supporting junior finance staff, with the ability to supervise AP, AR and payroll
Strong Excel and Xero skills, plus experience with job/project management software
Commercial awareness and confidence communicating with operational managers and senior leadership
A hands‐on approach to systems, reporting and process improvement
CPA/CA qualified or working towards it is advantageous, but not essential
