The opportunity
As a Youth Worker, you'll play an active role in supporting and empowering young people across Hobsons Bay through engaging programs, events, activities and outreach initiatives.
Working as part of the Youth Services team, you'll help create safe, inclusive and youth-friendly environments where young people can build resilience, develop skills, connect with their community and have their voices heard.
What you'll do
Deliver youth programs, events, activities and outreach initiatives across various community settings.
Support the planning, administration, evaluation and reporting of youth programs.
Engage and work directly with young people using a strength-based, youth empowerment approach.
Maintain secure, inclusive and supportive environments while managing risks appropriately.
Provide information, guidance and referrals to young people as needed.
What you need to succeed
Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work, Community Services, Community Development or a related field.
Qualification in youth work is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience working directly with young people in youth services, schools, community programs, recreation, arts, sport, volunteering or similar settings.
Strong understanding of youth work practice, the YACVic Code of Ethical Practice, Victorian Child Safe Standards and professional boundaries.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage positively with young people,
families and community stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and contribute to the successful delivery of youth programs and events.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check, a Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Candidates must also hold a valid Victorian Driver's License and Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working rights.
Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
