Blooming People Australia

Melbourne

This is a rare prospect to take genuine ownership of a specialist product category and shape how it grows across Australia and New Zealand.
Blooming People is representing an established Australian manufacturer and distributor seeking a commercially driven leader to take charge of its sun protection portfolio.
You'll set the category direction, expand its market presence and personally drive customer growth across Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, with shared involvement in Western Australia.
This isn't a desk‐bound category role.
It's designed for someone who enjoys developing the strategy, getting into the market and seeing their decisions translate into measurable commercial results.
You won't be limited to maintaining existing accounts or following someone else's plan.
You'll have the scope to identify where the category can grow, choose which markets and customers to pursue, and lead the activity needed to convert those opportunities.
Working closely with senior leadership, you'll have a meaningful voice in decisions relating to product range, pricing, distribution, marketing, stock planning and future market development.
The opportunity offers:
End-to-end ownership of a national product category
Direct access to senior decision-makers
Autonomy to develop and execute your category plan
A genuine balance of strategy, field sales and product leadership
Exposure to customers and markets across Australia and New Zealand
The opportunity to establish yourself as a recognised category leader
A collaborative team spanning sales, marketing, technical, operations, quality, finance and customer service
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You'll lead the commercial performance and market development of the sun protection category by:

Developing and delivering the annual category and go-to-market plan
Growing sales, gross margin, market share and product adoption
Building relationships with distributors, fabricators, manufacturers, installers and specifiers
Winning new business while retaining and growing established accounts
Driving product specification with architects, designers, consultants and industry professionals
Identifying geographic, customer, distribution and product gaps
Managing pricing, quotations, negotiations and commercial agreements
Partnering with marketing on campaigns, content, sampling tools, trade events and product launches
Using customer and competitor insights to influence product and range decisions
Coordinating forecasts with operations, production and finance
Supporting product trials, technical discussions and customer training
Maintaining a strong opportunity pipeline and clear account plans
This is a visible, customer‐facing position involving regular travel within Australia and periodic travel to New Zealand.
You'll know you're succeeding when the category is growing sustainably, more customers are actively specifying and purchasing the range, and new opportunities are converting into valuable repeat business.
You'll build an engaged network of distributors and fabricators,

deepen relationships with priority accounts and provide the business with reliable forecasts and meaningful market intelligence.
Most importantly, customers will see you as a trusted commercial partner who understands their needs, provides credible advice and follows through on commitments.
You may currently be working as a Category Manager, Business Development Manager, Product Manager, National Account Manager or Territory Sales Manager and be ready to take on broader commercial ownership.
Experience within textiles, window furnishings, building products, architectural products, technical products, manufacturing or distribution would be highly regarded.
We're also open to strong commercial candidates who can quickly learn a technical range and understand how to grow it through relationships, distribution and specification.
You'll bring:
A demonstrated record of growing sales, accounts or a product category
Strong commercial judgement across pricing, margin and negotiation
Confidence in prospecting, presenting and developing long‐term customer relationships
The ability to turn market insights into clear, practical growth plans
An interest in learning and confidently explaining technical products
Strong planning, forecasting and follow‐through
Confidence working with CRM or ERP systems and commercial data
An accountable and self‐directed approach
The ability to work constructively across different teams and functions
A current driver licence and willingness to travel
You don't need to tick every box.
If you have strong commercial experience, enjoy building markets and are ready to take real ownership of a category, we'd like to hear from you.
