About The Role
We have an exciting chance for a multiskilled Scientist to join our high performing team in the laboratory at Bairnsdale on a part time basis.
The Scientist will have a deep understanding and a skillset across various disciplines of Blood Banking, Haematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry.
This is a part-time position working a 45.6 hour fortnight across six shifts with the involvement in the oncall roster.
We are seeking an experienced Scientist who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team who will be responsible for:




Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing
Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis
Assisting with Stock Control
Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
Maintaining current scientific knowledge
Participating in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
Participating in training staff
Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
Experience in biochemistry, haematology, bloodbank and morphology would be ideal
Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
