At John Fawkner Private Hospital, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our Perioperative Services team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a passionate perioperative nurse who enjoys balancing hands-on clinical practice with leadership responsibilities.
Working alongside the Nurse Unit Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our perioperative department while fostering a culture of safety, teamwork and clinical excellence.

About the Role
As an ANUM, you will provide operational and clinical leadership across the perioperative environment, supporting teams in delivering safe, high-quality care to patients undergoing surgery.
Responsibilities
Supporting the daily coordination of operating theatre activities and workflows
Providing clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff
Acting as a role model for evidence-based practice and patient-centred care
Supporting staffing, resource allocation and operational efficiency
Assisting with performance development, coaching and staff engagement
Contributing to quality improvement, accreditation and patient safety initiatives
Promoting effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
Supporting a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement
What You'll Bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
Recent experience within Perioperative Services
Demonstrated experience in Scrub/Scout, Anaesthetics or PACU
Strong clinical knowledge and patient assessment skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
A commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and service excellence
The ability to mentor, develop and support team members
Current AHPRA registration
Minimum 5 years' perioperative nursing experience
Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to coordinate clinical activities and manage competing priorities
Understanding of NSQHS Standards and contemporary perioperative practice
Commitment to ongoing career development
Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or related specialty
Experience participating in accreditation activities
Knowledge of workforce planning, rostering and clinical governance processes
