Australian Gold Capital is a privately owned Australian business specialising in investment bullion, precious metals and jewellery, with a growing network of retail locations across Australia.

We are looking for an experienced Store Manager to take ownership of our Melbourne CBD flagship store.
n
This is a hands-on management role for someone who enjoys running a busy retail operation, leading a team, managing inventory, solving problems and making sure the store operates accurately and efficiently every day.
n
You don't need experience in precious metals. We provide comprehensive training in bullion, precious metals, jewellery purchasing and Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) transactions, as well as our inventory management, reconciliation and operational systems and procedures.
n

About the Role
n
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day performance and operation of our Melbourne CBD store, working closely with the CEO and wider business.
n
This is not a desk-based management position. We want a manager who is visible on the floor, works alongside the team, notices what needs to be done and takes responsibility for getting it done.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
Leading, coaching and managing the Melbourne retail team.
n
Managing staff performance, rostering and day-to-day store coverage.
n
Ensuring company procedures and operational processes are consistently followed.
n
Maintaining high standards of customer service, presentation and professionalism.
n
Taking ownership of daily store reconciliations, ensuring cash, bank transactions and physical inventory reconcile accurately.
n
Personally investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies, ensuring issues are followed through until the cause is identified and resolved.
n
Managing inventory levels, stock allocation, stock movements and stock accuracy.
n
Completing and overseeing stocktakes and maintaining accurate inventory records.
n
Using Excel and spreadsheets to analyse inventory, pricing, reconciliations and other operational information.
n




Ensuring end-of-day procedures are completed accurately and outstanding issues are followed through.
n
Identifying problems and implementing practical improvements rather than waiting to be directed.
n
Ensuring quieter periods are used productively for training, organisation, stock management and other store priorities.
n
Recruiting, training and onboarding new team members.
n
Working alongside the team and serving customers during busy periods.
n
Handling customer enquiries, escalations and high-value transactions.
n
Building relationships with regular and VIP customers.
n
Learning to assess and purchase gold, silver and jewellery from customers.
n
Assisting customers purchasing investment bullion, including through SMSFs.
n
Working closely with administration, accounts and compliance.
n
Ensuring the store and team maintain compliance with AML/CTF requirements and internal compliance procedures.
n
Maintaining a safe, organised and professional store environment.
n
Reporting directly to the CEO.

About You
n
We're looking for a capable retail manager who takes ownership and accountability for their store.
n
You're organised, numerate and commercially minded. You don't need to be constantly told what to do. You notice problems, prioritise what matters and follow things through.
n
Importantly, when something doesn't reconcile or doesn't make sense, your first instinct is to work out why and resolve it.
n
You'll ideally have:
n
Proven experience successfully managing a retail store.
n
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
n
Hands-on inventory and stock-control experience.
n
Good Excel and spreadsheet skills.
n
Strong mathematical and numerical ability.
n
Confidence working with pricing, percentages, weights and financial calculations.
n
Experience with cash handling, reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
n
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
n
High attention to detail and accuracy.
n
The ability to prioritise and work efficiently in a quick-paced environment.
n
A practical, hands-on management style.

A willingness to learn a specialised industry.

Experience in jewellery, watches, banking, pawnbroking, automotive, electronics,
telecommunications,
premium retail or another environment involving high-value products or transactions would be highly regarded, but is not essential.

Our immediate priority is finding someone who can take ownership of Melbourne and run it exceptionally well.

For a high-performing Store Manager, there will be opportunities over time to assist with additional locations, staff training, inventory management and new store openings, with the potential to progress into multi-site management.
