Our client is seeking a candidate to support the delivery of a special project for policy development work that will feed legislative reform.
This involves providing specialist support aimed at expanding the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) scheme into additional commercial and industrial sectors and consider alternative approaches to regulation.
The role will support stakeholder engagement activities with industry, manufacturers, industry associations, technical experts, and government stakeholders.
You will assist with extensive stakeholder engagement on policy reform – both internally within the department and externally with stakeholders from industry, state and territory governments; undertake policy research; and drafting policy documents, including policy options papers and briefings for Senior Executives and Ministers.
You will contribute to evidence gathering, assessment of regulatory options, and the development of recommendations to inform policy and program design.
Suitable candidates will have robust communication, consultation, and relationship management skills with experience translating complex technical information into practical policy advice.
Experience in policy development, regulatory design, and implementation within government or a related environment would be highly desirable.
You will also have demonstrated experience and technical expertise in industrial and commercial energy efficiency,



including an understanding of energy-using products, technologies, market trends, and opportunities to improve energy performance outcomes.
Skills/experience highly regarded include experience in regulatory policy reform and/or in legislation development, previous experience in a government setting, and regulatory experience – although other skills/experience will also be considered.
