Position Information
The new Wentworth Point High School is a high rise six-level school in a high-density property area comprising only apartment residences.
The school commenced operations in **** with year 7 and has a staggered start to year groups year-on-year.
There are five Autism (AU) support classes.
The school is designed to serve the dramatically growing demographic in the area and is expected to cater for **** students with an average year group of 255 students.
The school has close links with Wentworth Point Public School, as a partner school as well as sharing a geographical boundary.
The school has diverse feeder public schools including Wentworth Point Public School, Newington Public School, Concord West Public School, Lidcombe Public School and Victoria Avenue Public School.
The school has a highly diverse student population.
Students are born in over 20 different countries and speak over 23 languages at home.
Mongolian, Arabic,



Mandarin and Korean are the most prominent.
Approximately 25% of students are on Temporary Resident Visas, mostly from Mongolia and Saudi Arabia.
The socio-economic status of families is broad.

There is limited car parking onsite.
Staff are encouraged to make use of the end-of-trip facilities and public transport routes.

Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Commerce, Geography (7-10) and Business Studies with the ability to design and implement quality teaching and learning programs and assessment.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum to meet the individual learning needs of a diverse range of students, including EAL/D learners.
Ability to use effective classroom management skills to create a classroom environment that is engaging,



inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive and respectful relationships with students, colleagues and families
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
