About the Role
The Principal Global Transfer Pricing (GTP) plays a key role in managing BHP's transfer pricing positions, strategy and risk across our operations in more than 90 locations worldwide.
This is an opportunity to work on complex, high-value transfer pricing matters across one of the world's largest diversified resources companies, partnering with tax, finance and commercial stakeholders across BHP's global footprint.
This role can be based in any of our office locations in Australia, including Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne!
Reporting to the Manager Global Transfer Pricing, the successful candidate will be required to:
Act as a trusted advisor on TP implications of commercial decisions
Co-ordinate and review the development of TP positions and advice that are accurate and technically robust to the Group
Apply the Tax Risk Standard when considering tax matters and determining the best approach to manage the risk associated with those matters
Make a strong contribution to Group Tax's knowledge and understanding of practical and technical tax areas relevant to transfer pricing and emerging TP and international tax issues
Prepare timely responses to allocated tax regulatory requests in accordance with Group Tax standards and protocols
Review contracts and commercial proposals and make evidence-based and risk-managed recommendations and decisions




Analyse new tax legislation and other tax developments/announcements and provide analysis and recommendations to stakeholders/customers both within Group Tax and outside of Group Tax
Monitor and review TP developments (including OECD and for specific countries) and assist in developing BHP positions for submission or distribution
Have an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
Exercise sound judgement in balancing technical, commercial, reputational and governance considerations.
Provide clear recommendations to senior stakeholders on transfer pricing risk and strategy
Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning and continuous improvement by proactively identifying, recommending and supporting change initiatives, including the simplification and automation of transfer pricing processes, reporting and other work practices through the effective use of digital capabilities
About You
Robust stakeholder engagement and commercial acumen, with the ability to effectively evaluate tax risks / benefits and translate complex transfer pricing matters into clear, sound and practical business advice
Significant experience with corporate income tax and/or international tax across compliance, provisioning and advice
Deep transfer pricing experience across multiple jurisdictions (including OECD framework and arm's length principles)
Experience in implementing tax processes and projects, including transactions, systems and processes
Transfer pricing experience in resources / commodities industry, including commodities transactions, Treasury functions, intragroup services and charges
Post-graduate qualifications and/or CA / CPA / Legal practicing certificate
Sound knowledge of relevant jurisdictional corporate tax rules / regulations and relevant accounting rules / regulations
Strong capability in working with large datasets and financial systems (e.g. SAP),



high level technology tools (e.g. Alteryx, PowerBI), and other skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
