Trojan Rail is looking for reliable and safety focused people to train as Locomotive Driver Assistants in Moss Vale.
n
No previous rail experience is required.
n
Successful applicants will complete paid training, workplace observation and supervised shifts before completing client training and Verification of Competency.
n
Location: Moss Vale, NSW
n Expected start: From Mid-October ****
n Employment type: Casual blank line

About the Role
n
Once qualified, you will work alongside a Locomotive Driver to support the protected operation of freight trains.
n
Your duties may include:
n
n
Assisting with train preparation and safety checks
n
Supporting shunting and yard activities
n
Communicating with train crew and operational staff
n
Following safe-working rules and procedures
n
Completing operational records
n
Working safely around locomotives, wagons and rail infrastructure
n
n
Roster and Availability
n
This is not a Monday to Friday job.
n
Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, public holidays and short notice work.
n
You will provide your availability and may be offered shifts when work is available.
n
Pay Rates
n
n
Classroom training: $***** per hour plus superannuation




n
Workplace training shifts: $***** per hour plus superannuation
n
Qualified Driver Assistant work: rates may exceed $***** per hour, including applicable penalties
n
n
Hours are not guaranteed.
n
What We Are Looking For
n
You must be safety focused, reliable and punctual, willing to learn and able to follow instructions. You must also work well in a small team, be comfortable working shifts, and confidently use computers and digital devices.
n
Essential Requirements
n
n
Hold Australian working rights
n
Hold a current unrestricted Australian Class C driver licence or higher
n
Have reliable transport
n
Be available for the full training program
n
Pass a Category 1 Rail Safety Worker medical & fitness assessment
n
Pass a National Police Check
n
Participate in drug and alcohol testing
n
Hold HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, or be willing to obtain it before training
n
n
You must successfully complete the Trojan Rail training program and all required assessments before progressing to training with our host employer.
n
You must then complete the host employer's training, clearances and Verification of Competency before undertaking qualified work.
