Job Description
Executive Manager Grants, Governance & Compliance
n
Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.
n
Our main services are based in Wellington and Dubbo, and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.
n
About the role:
n
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Executive Manager Grants, Governance & Compliance to lead WACHS' governance, risk, compliance and grant management functions.
n
This is a senior leadership role where you will work closely with the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team to:
n
n
Strengthen organisational governance and accountability
n
Manage risk, compliance and accreditation requirements
n
Drive funding growth and sustainability
n
Support quality assurance and continuous improvement
n
Lead a high-performing and culturally safe team
n
n
You will provide high-level strategic advice, maintain effective governance and assurance systems, and oversee the full grant lifecycle to ensure WACHS meets its regulatory, funding and organisational obligations.
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Contribute to organisational strategy as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team
n
Provide high-level advice to the CEO and Board on governance, risk and compliance matters
n
Lead and maintain governance, risk management and compliance frameworks
n
Support Board and Committee reporting, governance calendars and statutory compliance
n
Oversee internal audits, compliance reviews, incident management and risk mitigation strategies
n
Lead accreditation processes, Quality Management Systems and continuous improvement initiatives
n
Manage the end-to-end grant lifecycle,
including identifying funding opportunities, preparing applications, reporting and acquittals
n
Identify new funding opportunities and strengthen funding diversification and sustainability
n
Maintain organisational policies, document control systems, compliance registers and internal controls
n
Build strong relationships with funding bodies, regulators, auditors and key partners
n
Lead, mentor and develop the Governance, Compliance and Grants team
n
n
Selection Criteria:
n
n
Minimum five years' experience in governance, compliance, risk or a similar senior role
n
Demonstrated executive or senior leadership experience
n
Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, risk management and compliance systems
n
Experience managing grants, funding agreements, reporting requirements and acquittals
n
Proven ability to develop and implement organisational frameworks, policies and procedures
n
Experience working effectively with Boards and Committees
n
Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship management skills
n
High-level analytical, reporting and decision-making capability
n
Relevant tertiary qualification in Governance, Law, Business, Public Health or a related discipline
n
Experience within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation or not-for-profit environment will be highly regarded
n
Solid understanding of Aboriginal health, community control and cultural governance principles
n
Current Working with Children Check
n
National Police Check
n
NSW Driver's Licence
n
Current COVID-19 vaccination, with a minimum of two doses
n
