n
Sydney CBD | Full-time | Monday-Friday | Day & PM Opportunities
n
If You Love Making Kitchens Run Better, We Should Talk.
n
Some chefs love creating the next dish.
n
Some love the adrenaline of service.
n
And some discover that what they really love is running the kitchen better.
n
Getting the team working together.
n
Holding the standard.
n
Finding the bottleneck.
n
Reducing wasted labour.
n
Training someone until they become excellent.
n
Improving a process so it works every single day.
n
Looking At Yesterday's Operation And Asking
n
How do we make this 1% better tomorrow?
n
If that sounds like you, Feedwell may be a very different kind of career opportunity.
n
We're hiring two kitchen leaders as we continue to grow one of Sydney's highest-volume corporate catering operations.
n
One will lead our Catering & Events kitchen.
n
The other will lead our PM Kitchen Operations team.
n
The work is different.
n
The mindset we're looking for is the same.
n
Why Feedwell?
n
Feedwell has become one of Sydney's fastest-growing corporate caterers, trusted by teams at Google, Amazon, TikTok, Louis Vuitton, Salesforce and hundreds of other premium clients.
n
We're proud of our food.
n
But great food alone didn't build this business.
n
Operational excellence did.
n
We have built a highly structured, high-volume kitchen around systems, standards, technology, disciplined labour management and teams that know how to execute.
n
And we are constantly sharpening it.
n
That's why we're looking for kitchen leaders who don't just want to work inside a good operation.
n
They want to learn how it works, lead it exceptionally well, and then help make it even better.
n
Two Opportunities
n
n
Catering & Events Chef
n
n
This is a hands-on kitchen leadership role running our daytime catering operation while helping us build our expanding hot-food and events capability.
n
You'll lead the daily kitchen, own quality, labour, production and team performance, and work closely with our Operations Manager and Product Development Manager.
n
As The Events Side Develops, You'll Help
n
n
test and implement new hot-food products;
n
turn recipes into reliable production systems;
n
improve how food is prepared, packed, transported and served;
n
train and grow the team;
n
and help build the operating systems around an expanding events business.
n
n
This will particularly suit a chef who enjoys both running an operation and helping build the next version of it.
n
n
Kitchen Operations Manager - PM Team
n
n
This role is much less about menu development.
n
It is about operational leadership.
n
You'll lead an established PM production and assembly operation and take accountability for:
n
n
team performance;
n
labour productivity;
n
food quality;
n
accuracy;
n
workflow;
n
food safety;
n
timing;
n
and consistent execution every day.
n
n
Then you'll help us make it better.
n
That Might Mean
n
n
removing wasted labour;
n
reducing product waste;
n
improving workflow;
n
strengthening training;
n
increasing team capability;
n
improving communication;
n
simplifying a process;
n
lifting product consistency;
n
or finding a better way to achieve the same result.
n
n
If the idea of taking an already strong operation and continuously sharpening it sounds satisfying rather than boring, this may be your role.
n
What Both Roles Have in Common
n
We are looking for people who want real responsibility.
n
You'll Be Expected To
n
Lead People
n
Set clear expectations, coach people, hold standards, develop capability and create a team that performs without drama or heroics.
n
Run the Operation
n
Understand the work, organise it properly, stay close enough to see problems early and make sure quality, timing and labour targets are achieved.
n
Improve It
n
We believe operational excellence is never finished.
n
You'll be encouraged to look for better ways to improve:
n
n
labour;
n
waste;
n
workflow;
n
productivity;
n
training;
n
team satisfaction;
n
food quality;
n
consistency;
n
shelf life;
n
systems;
n
and communication.
n
n
Not by changing things for the sake of changing them.
n
By learning the operation first, understanding the problem and then helping us make sensible improvements that stick.
n
Who We're Looking For
n
Your current title matters less to us than your trajectory.
n
You Might Currently Be a
n
n
Senior Chef de Partie;
n
Junior Sous Chef;
n
Sous Chef;
n
Senior Sous Chef;
n
Catering or Events Chef;
n
Kitchen Supervisor;
n
Kitchen Manager;
n
Production Chef;
n
or hands-on Head Chef.
n
n
What matters is that you've already started moving beyond simply being a good chef.
n
You've begun leading people.
n
You Care About How The Whole Kitchen Performs.
n
You notice waste and inefficiency.
n
You like teaching people.
n
You hold standards.
n
You're interested in labour, systems, process and the commercial side of food.
n
And you still have hunger to get considerably better at all of it.
n
You don't need to arrive as the finished article.
n
In fact, we'd rather find someone with strong fundamentals, an achiever pattern and plenty of runway than someone who believes they've already mastered everything.
n
The Career Opportunity
n
This isn't about escaping hospitality.
n
And It Isn't About Giving Up Being a Chef.
n
It's an opportunity to add another discipline to your craft:
n
Kitchen operations leadership.
n
You'll work inside a business that has become successful by being unusually good at operational execution.
n
You'll get real responsibility, clear standards, direct feedback, coaching and the opportunity to grow as the business grows.
n
We believe our kitchen leaders are developed through opportunity, coaching and accountability -- not just hired through experience.
n
And because we're growing, the operation you inherit today won't be the operation you're leading several years from now.
n
And Yes, The Working Week Is Different
n
Both roles are full time, Monday to Friday.
n
No split shifts.
n
No routine weekend restaurant grind.
n
But don't mistake sustainable hours for low ambition.
n
We work hard while we're here.
n
We measure performance.
n
We hold standards.
n
We want leaders who enjoy responsibility and want to keep getting better.
n
The difference is that we don't believe becoming an exceptional kitchen leader should require sacrificing the rest of your life indefinitely.
n
Interested?
n
If you've reached the point in your career where you're thinking:
n
"I know I'm a good chef. Now I want to become really good at running kitchens and leading people."
n
We'd like to hear from you.
n
Apply And Tell Us Which Opportunity Interests You Most
n
Catering & Events Chef
n
or
n
Kitchen Operations Manager - PM
n
If you're not sure, that's fine too. We'll work that out together.
n
Once you apply, we'll send you a short online questionnaire by email and text. It only takes a few minutes and is required for us to consider your application.
