About You
Are you an experienced research grants professional who thrives on improving how things work?
This is an opportunity to lead a critical function at RMIT that sits at the heart of research funding success.
As Manager, Research Funding Submissions and Risk, you'll lead a specialist team responsible for guiding research funding applications through submission, compliance, due diligence and risk assessment processes.
You'll work alongside researchers, academic leaders and professional staff to ensure funding opportunities are supported by clear, efficient and well-governed processes that help great research reach its full potential.
We're looking for a curious and forward-thinking leader who enjoys challenging the status quo and finding smarter ways of working.
In this newly redesigned role, you'll have the opportunity to shape processes, improve service delivery and help embed new technologies, digital tools and AI-enabled solutions.
If you're motivated by organisational impact, enjoy leading teams through change, and bring experience navigating complex research funding, compliance or pre‐award environments, you'll find a rewarding opportunity to influence how research is supported across one of Australia's leading universities.
Responsibilities
Experience leading research funding submission, compliance, eligibility or pre‐award operations within a university, research organisation or similarly complex environment.
Confidence leading intake, triage, workload allocation and deadline‐driven processes across high‐volume research funding activities, tenders or complex proposal workflows.
Strong understanding of the Australian research funding environment, including major competitive grant schemes, funder rules, eligibility requirements, institutional approvals and common compliance risks.
Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, document and expedite pre‐award or pre‐agreement research risks, including risks linked to funder requirements, partners,

activity type, due diligence and institutional obligations.
A proven track record leading, coaching and developing high‐performing professional staff teams, with the ability to set priorities, manage workloads and maintain consistent service standards.
Excellent judgement, problem‐solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate competing deadlines, complex matters and relationships with researchers, senior academic leaders, professional staff, funding bodies and specialist advisory teams.
Additional Requirements
Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
