Permanent, Full-Time - $170,****** to $185,942 + Superannuation + Leaseback Vehicle

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Manager Building and Environment leads and coordinates Council's construction regulation and sustainability program, ensuring effective certification, inspection, compliance, drainage, sustainability and cemetery services across the Orange Local Government Area.
Reporting to the Director Development Services, the role supports integrated service delivery across the Development Services Division, acting as a principal certifying authority and providing strategic direction on fire safety, drainage and unlawful construction matters.
The position leads a section of approximately 12 staff across building certification, administration and sustainability functions, and carries responsibility for staff leadership, budget management and reporting to senior management and Council.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Relevant tertiary degree qualifications in Building or a related discipline
Current council or private accreditation under the Building Commission NSW (minimum Building Surveyor unrestricted), or eligibility to obtain council accreditation
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and current Class C Driver Licence
Extensive experience in a similar role, with detailed knowledge of local government administration and construction regulation
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to coach, mentor and manage staff
High-level communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial management
