Location: Fitzroy, Melbourne About the Role The Asset Engineer will lead asset lifecycle planning and renewal priorities across the university's national property portfolio.
This strategic and hands-on role will assess the condition, performance and risk of buildings and infrastructure, establish consistent asset-management frameworks, and turn technical data into clear maintenance, renewal and capital investment recommendations.
Key Responsibilities Develop university-wide asset-management frameworks, lifecycle models and assessment methodologies.
Lead asset condition, criticality and performance assessments.
Develop long-term asset renewal, replacement and capital investment strategies.
Prioritise maintenance and renewal based on asset condition, risk and operational importance.
Provide strategic engineering advice across buildings, infrastructure, utilities and critical systems.
Lead infrastructure risk, statutory compliance and engineering-governance activities.
Improve asset data quality, reporting, analytics and system integration.
Translate technical, operational, financial and risk data into clear investment recommendations.
Prepare strategic reports and presentations for senior leadership.
Build effective relationships across facilities, projects, finance, governance and external technical partners.
About You You will bring strong asset-management or engineering experience, supported by technical, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
A degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Infrastructure Management, Building Services or a related discipline.
Experience in asset management, facilities engineering, infrastructure planning or building services.
Experience working across a large, complex or geographically dispersed property portfolio.
Demonstrated experience developing asset lifecycle strategies, renewal programs and infrastructure investment plans.
Strong knowledge of risk-based maintenance, engineering governance and statutory compliance.
The ability to translate asset, operational, financial and risk data into strategic recommendations.
Solid communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
