We are seeking experienced and motivated Heavy Vehicle Steering Mechanic to join its growing operations in Australia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, servicing, and testing heavy vehicle steering systems and hydraulic power steering components for commercial vehicles.
This role is ideal for international candidates with strong experience in truck steering systems, hydraulic systems, diesel vehicle maintenance, or heavy vehicle mechanical repairs who are seeking long-term employment opportunities in Australia.
Fulltime Salary : 80,********,000 Duties and Responsibilities The Heavy Vehicle Steering Technician will be responsible for: Diagnosing steering and suspension faults in heavy vehicles and commercial trucks.
Repairing, rebuilding, and remanufacturing steering gears, steering pumps, drag links, slip shafts, and related hydraulic steering components.
Performing steering system inspections, troubleshooting, and optimisation.
Dismantling, cleaning, measuring, and assembling steering components according to manufacturer specifications.
Conducting hydraulic testing and pressure testing of steering systems and components.
Installing and servicing steering gears and steering-related assemblies on trucks and heavy vehicles.
Reading and interpreting technical drawings, workshop manuals, and hydraulic schematics.
Using workshop diagnostic equipment, measuring instruments, and specialised steering tools.
Ensuring all repairs comply with Australian safety and quality standards.
Maintaining accurate service records and job documentation.
Supporting workshop cleanliness, safety procedures,



and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working collaboratively with engineers, workshop supervisors, and other technicians.
Assisting with custom steering modifications and engineered vehicle upgrades when required.
Essential Requirements Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy vehicle mechanical repair or steering system repair.
Strong experience working with trucks, buses, commercial vehicles, mining equipment, or hydraulic steering systems.
Trade qualification in: Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Diesel Mechanic Hydraulic Technician Mechanical Fitter or equivalent international trade certification.
Ability to diagnose hydraulic and steering-related mechanical faults.
Experience using workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and hydraulic testing equipment.
Good understanding of workplace safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
Good English communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications Experience with brands such as Kenworth, Volvo, Mack, Scania, Mercedes-Benz, Isuzu, Hino, Iveco, or Western Star.
Experience rebuilding steering gears or hydraulic pumps.
Experience in remanufacturing or precision mechanical assembly.
Knowledge of OEM steering systems including TRW, ZF, R.H. Sheppard, or similar.
Australian trade recognition or willingness to undertake skills assessment for migration purposes.
