Executive Manager Grants, Governance & Compliance
Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual, family and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.
Our main services are based in Wellington and Dubbo, and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Executive Manager Grants, Governance & Compliance to lead WACHS' governance, risk, compliance and grant management functions.
This is a senior leadership role where you will work closely with the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team to:
Strengthen organisational governance and accountabilityManage risk, compliance and accreditation requirementsDrive funding growth and sustainabilitySupport quality assurance and continuous improvementLead a high-performing and culturally safe team
You will provide high-level strategic advice, maintain effective governance and assurance systems, and oversee the full grant lifecycle to ensure WACHS meets its regulatory, funding and organisational obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to organisational strategy as an active member of the Executive Leadership TeamProvide high-level advice to the CEO and Board on governance, risk and compliance mattersLead and maintain governance, risk management and compliance frameworksSupport Board and Committee reporting, governance calendars and statutory complianceOversee internal audits, compliance reviews, incident management and risk mitigation strategiesLead accreditation processes, Quality Management Systems and continuous improvement initiativesManage the end-to-end grant lifecycle,
including identifying funding opportunities, preparing applications, reporting and acquittalsIdentify new funding opportunities and strengthen funding diversification and sustainabilityMaintain organisational policies, document control systems, compliance registers and internal controlsBuild strong relationships with funding bodies, regulators, auditors and key partnersLead, mentor and develop the Governance, Compliance and Grants team
Selection Criteria:
Minimum five years' experience in governance, compliance, risk or a similar senior roleDemonstrated executive or senior leadership experienceStrong knowledge of governance frameworks, risk management and compliance systemsExperience managing grants, funding agreements, reporting requirements and acquittalsProven ability to develop and implement organisational frameworks, policies and proceduresExperience working effectively with Boards and CommitteesStrong stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship management skillsHigh-level analytical, reporting and decision-making capabilityRelevant tertiary qualification in Governance, Law, Business, Public Health or a related disciplineExperience within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation or not-for-profit environment will be highly regardedStrong understanding of Aboriginal health, community control and cultural governance principlesCurrent Working with Children CheckNational Police CheckNSW Driver's LicenceCurrent COVID-19 vaccination, with a minimum of two dosesCompany car providedA market-competitive salary and generous not-for-profit salary packagingThe opportunity to hold a key leadership role within an enthusiastic and dedicated Aboriginal community-controlled organisation
