We are seeking a Finance Project Officer to support the financial operations and administration of a diverse portfolio of projects.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance or project professional who enjoys working across project controls, cost management, reporting, and stakeholder coordination in a fast-paced environment.Based in Canberra, you will work closely with project teams, finance professionals, and key business stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data, strong project governance, and effective project performance reporting.Your recent role Reporting to the Project Management Office, you will play a key role in supporting project delivery through accurate financial and project cost control activities.Your responsibilities will include:Establishing and maintaining project financial records and cost structuresProcessing project setup, amendments, and closure activitiesManaging project cost allocations and labour cost codingSupporting timesheet processing, reconciliation,
and error resolutionMonitoring and maintaining project financial data integrityProcessing project-related expense adjustments and transfersAssisting with project reporting and performance data managementLiaising with project managers, corporate finance teams, and stakeholders to resolve queries and improve processesIdentifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencyWhat you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:Previous experience in project finance, project cost controls, or financial coordinationStrong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracyExperience working with finance systems, ERP platforms, or project management toolsStrong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsA proactive approach and continuous improvement mindsetQualifications in Finance, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline will be highly regardedThe preferred candidate will hold an AGSVA recognised Baseline security clearance or higherWhat you get in returnInitial 6-month contractOpportunity to work on complex and meaningful projectsCollaborative and supportive team environmentExposure to project finance, governance, and project control functions
