At the National Convention Centre Canberra (NCCC), we bring events to life — from creative gala dinners to large-scale, multi-day conferences, all supported by exceptional service and catering.We're currently seeking an Assistant Event Services Manager to join our Event Services team.
Reporting to the Event Services Manager, this is a hands‐on leadership role supporting the operational management, planning and delivery of conferences and events across the Centre.You'll help lead our Event Services team, coordinate day‐to‐day operations, maintain high service and presentation standards, manage departmental costs and support the delivery of seamless experiences for our clients and guests.Every day is different, but you'll mostly be:Assisting with the operational management, planning and delivery of conferences, events and functions across the NCCCCoordinating day‐to‐day Event Services operations to maximise guest satisfaction, service quality and departmental performanceEnsuring events are accurately executed and delivered in accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), while maintaining data integritySupporting operational management across Event Services, Facilities and Stores in line with Fire Life Safety, HACCP, WHS and Security requirementsWorking with the Event Services Manager to manage departmental budgets and costs, with a focus on wages, beverage costs, linen and operating suppliesSupporting departmental revenue, GOP and P&L; performance and identifying opportunities to drive incremental revenueMaintaining and using NCCC and IHG operating systems including MICROS, FutureLog, Shiji and other operational toolsAssisting with the management and operation of the NCCC car parkEnsuring function rooms, public areas, back‐of‐house areas and storerooms are maintained and presented to a high standardWorking closely with Stores, Kitchen, Events, Facilities,



Finance and Maintenance teams to support seamless event deliveryProviding leadership, direction and support to Event Services team members, including recruitment, onboarding, training and succession planningSupporting the development and delivery of comprehensive team training programsPromoting team engagement, development and a positive workplace cultureCommunicating relevant safety information to team members and supporting the identification, assessment and management of workplace risksEnsuring team members receive appropriate induction, refresher training and supervision in relation to workplace health and safety responsibilitiesSupporting and promoting employee health and wellbeing initiatives across the departmentWhat We're Looking For:Previous leadership or supervisory experience within large-scale events, conferencing, hospitality or food and beverage operationsStrong operational knowledge and the ability to coordinate multiple events and priorities in a quick‐paced environmentA strong understanding of workplace health and safety, HACCP, Fire Life Safety and operational compliance requirementsExperience working with event, point-of-sale or operational systems such as MICROS, FutureLog and Shiji would be advantageousCommercial awareness with an understanding of wage control, operational costs, revenue and departmental performanceStrong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail,
