Job DescriptionMelbourne- Subject to travel (remote locations)About the RoleWe're looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead testing and commissioning activities on major electrical projects.
You'll be the subject matter expert for primary and secondary equipment testing, and provide specialist engineering support to project teams on quotations, bids, and tender submissions.
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you'll take ownership of all testing and commissioning activities within your portfolio.What You'll DoPerform HV testing and commissioning of primary equipment (415V–500kV), including transformers, CBs, CTs, VTs, and switchgearCarry out secondary injection relay testing across transmission, distribution, generation, and traction environmentsTest and integrate protection relays, control devices, SCADA, and AC/DC control systemsApply and modify IED settings, and plan/integrate new protection and control schemes into existing systemsPrepare commissioning methodology, management plans, relay test plans, ITPs, and acceptance documentationLead and manage testing and commissioning delivery,



including internal and subcontracted resourcesProvide technical support and leadership to site testing teams, project managers, and stakeholdersImplement risk management processes (SWMS/JSEA) and maintain a robust safety cultureAbout YouBachelor degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering5+ years' experience testing and commissioning primary and secondary protection and control equipmentAdvanced knowledge of power systems protection principles and applicationsProven ability to lead commissioning activities within the electrical utility industryProficiency with test equipment/software such as Omicron Test Universe, Doble Protection Suite, CMC series, or similarIEC ***** testing exposure and project management experience are advantageous but not essentialWhy ApplyThis is a hands‐on opportunity to work across complex, high‐voltage projects with genuine technical ownership, backed by a team that values safety, innovation, and doing the job right.
