Northern Health are seeking applications from a energetic, highly motivated and suitably experienced mental health clinician to work in the Enhanced Clinical Stream with the Merri-bek Community Mental Health team in Coburg.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About Mental Health Division:

Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.

We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services.

About the Role:





An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 3 Social Worker/Occupational Therapist, Grade 2 Psychologist or Grade 3 Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the Merri-bek Community Mental Health Team within Northern Health’s Mental Health Division.

The Merri-bek Community Mental Health team is a large, supportive and dynamic team made up of staff that are truly passionate and motivated in supporting consumers and their families/carers.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Merri-bek and Hume.

The Enhanced Clinical Community Mental Health Clinician works with the wider multidisciplinary team, providing assertive community intervention to consumers identified as having high complex needs, through providing increased contact hours, fostering therapeutic engagement, working closely with family, carers and other supports such as NDIS, and providing support and evidence-based interventions that are tailored to the individual’s needs.

Then Enhanced Clinical Stream utilises a team-based approach to each consumer clinical care with capped caseloads.

This position is a part time, 0.8EFT ongoing position.

This role is responsible for:

- Providing recovery-oriented assessment and intervention in collaboration with people presenting the complex and enduring mental illness.
- Working in partnership with consumers and carers
- Providing care and coordination to a small caseload of consumers with the support of the wider Enhanced Clinical Team
- Contributing to a positive workplace culture

To be successful in this role you will have:





- The appropriate qualifications as a Grade 2 Psychologist, or Grade 3 Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
- Passion about contributing positively to the lives of consumers with mental illness and their families
- Experience in the provision of Psychiatric assessment and intervention for consumers with a mental illness - preferably in a public mental health setting
- Ability to provide general and discipline specific mental health assessment and intervention
- Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work autonomously
