Mō tēnei tūranga | About the opportunity
We have two exciting permanent opportunities for Product Development Managers to join our R&D; team, supporting the growth of our Protein & Powders and Cream, Cheese & Milkfat portfolios.
In this role, you’ll help shape high-value Dairy product and technology concepts by translating market insights, research opportunities, and technical expertise into clear, scalable programmes that support long-term value creation.

Acting as a key connection point between research, commercial teams, markets, and external partners, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring research outputs are meaningful, commercially relevant, and aligned to future portfolio growth. You’ll also support business case development, stakeholder engagement, IP capture, and capability building across technical teams.

Key Accountabilities:

- Lead the development of new product or technology concepts across the Protein & Powders or Cream, Cheese & Milkfat portfolio.
- Ability to translate technical insights into commercially relevant recommendations and synthesise market insights and strategies into research programmes
- Identify high-value research opportunities and shape them into clear, scalable programme concepts.
- Support early-stage business case development, including scope, resourcing, funding options and external partnership opportunities.
- Translate complex research, technical insights and market feedback into commercially relevant recommendations.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leaders, research partners and external agencies.
- Support the identification,



capture and protection of intellectual property opportunities.
- Help build capability across R&D; teams by strengthening stakeholder engagement, business case development and communication of technical outcomes.

Mōu | About you
You’ll bring experience in R&D;, product development, or applied science, with the ability to link technical expertise to commercial opportunities. As a clear communicator and confident relationship builder, you can translate complex information into practical insights.

Confidence to work across technical, commercial, market, and external partner groups with the ability to bring people, ideas, and opportunities together to shape research into scalable product or technology concepts.

You will also bring:

- A relevant Master’s qualification in science or engineering
- Proven experience translating market insights into scalable programme concepts and Dairy Product Category experience.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences
- Commercial acumen and confidence supporting business case development, budgeting, and funding requirements
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, including research partners, commercial teams, or funding bodies
- Sound understanding of IP principles and the importance of protecting and maximising research value
- A collaborative, curious, and strategic mindset, with the ability to work through ambiguity and build capability in others
