The opportunity

We are in the market for an experienced and qualified professional Manager Procurement and Contracts. You are passionate about your profession and enjoy the rewards of a good challenge.

As the Manager, Procurement and Contracts within the Business Services Directorate, you will be responsible for leading the City’s procurement and contract management functions at a strategic and operational level. The role has a strong focus on commercial outcomes, while ensuring procurement and contract activities remain compliant with the Local Government Act 1995, regulations, City policies and probity requirements. It is expected to balance governance, risk management, efficiency and value for money, particularly across high-value and high-risk procurement and contract matters.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Extensive senior-level experience leading procurement and contract management functions in a complex private or government sector workplace, with a strong focus on governance, compliance, probity, risk management and value for money outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic, commercially focused advice to executive leaders, senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams on high value, high risk and complex procurement and contract matters.
- Strong leadership capability, including experience managing teams, building organisational capability, driving continuous improvement and developing fit-for-purpose systems, processes, policies and education programs.




- Highly developed communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors and external advisers.
- Sound commercial judgement and analytical capability, including the ability to assess risk, monitor contractor performance, resolve complex issues and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and service outcomes.
- A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a Bachelor of Laws or Bachelor of Commerce.
